Honor Sharon Gates by Continuing Her Legacy

Sharon Gates dedicated more than 35 years of her life to students. She believed deeply that education and service were inseparable, and she showed us that the most meaningful work happens when we show up for others, especially those who need it most.

In 1991, Sharon founded the Rush Community Service Initiatives Programs (RCSIP) with a simple but powerful vision: to connect students' passions with a purpose greater than themselves. For over three decades, that vision has come to life through thousands of students serving communities across Chicago and beyond.

Her legacy lives on in every student who has been changed by the experience of serving and in every community member whose life has been touched by their care.
